Mission Statement
Art needs an organized arena so that its capricious soul can find reliance, a place to call home, even if for only a fleeting moment. It can't be cornered or qualified. We demand, though, that it be good, either by our own personal standards or by designated standards. Herein lies the responsibility of a gallery--- to make capricious yet 'good' art available to be gazed upon, hopefully, by an appreciative public. Art is the created embodiment of an artist's perception of reality. It represents that intangible gap between what surrounds us and the artist's attempt to come to terms with it. Art belongs to us like nothing else. It is first and foremost a creation, the reason why it is still housed in the same cave where it was given birth. It reflects our nature of being human. Spiritually we are creative beings and our art is legacy to that spirituality. The Wallflower Gallery wants to offer to the artistic community a setting where its youngest artists, its newest artists, its unknown artists, its struggling artists will find an outlet for their creative talent. The gallery, furthermore, wants to showcase this talent in the struggling yet emerging soul of downtown Miami. It takes courage to help facilitate change, as it takes courage to lay bare one's spirit. Both the gallery and its artists accept the challenge. |
