Whimsical Ways
A Watercolor Exhibition
By
Sandra Halpern-Stein
Creative design opens the passages of form and motion when abstract innovation replaces the boundaries of the norm. With a flair for shaping hues with various textures, Sandra Halpern-Stein extends her imagination into surrealistic realms of technicolor fantasy and creates characters with a distinctive fluidity. Playing on movement within nature and the composition of the body, Halpern-Stein’s artistic creations animate the intricate zones of a dream-like microcosm. Halpern-Stein's paintings connects vivid colors, whimsical projections and intense emotions to flourish within a context of structural inspiration and momentary nuance.
"As I begin to envision a piece, I touch a certain flow that reflects my mood and directs my creative impulse into a very free-form mode. Doodling figures allows me to work out of different scope for detail and lightens the tone within the medium."
Halpern-Stein is a native of Illinois who expanded her artistic foundation at The University of Illinois and through workshops by The Gold Coast Watercolor Society. After a lifetime of painting, Halpern-Stein sites the works of Paul Klee, Wassily Kandinsky, Pablo Picasso, Miles Batt and Edward Betts as explorative beacons of creative insight for her own designs. Sandra has also displayed her work locally at the Affordable Art Gallery, Funktional Funk, Sunfest and numerous art festivals including South Miami, Fairchild and Baptist Art Shows. The Wallflower Gallery is proud to present Sandra Halpern-Stein as a featured artist for this Fine Art Exhibition.
