Sensual With Structure
An Acrylic, Photography and Mixed Media Exhibition
By
Ely Rodriguez
Enabling lines and form to reverberate with an affection for the nature of design touches the human vitality. Expressing a sensuality for shape, contour and composition, Ely Rodriguez directs the scenic movement of her artwork with a flair for color and texture. Revealing a playful essence that explores personal emotion and cultural limits, Rodriguez’s images weave abstract elements with an architectural delineation that conveys transition and perspective. Rodriguez's artwork reflects an emotional energy that is tempered by the process of familiarity and the nuances of relationships within an ever-shifting world.
"In many ways, I grow through my artwork as the process of each piece develops and becomes its own experience. With an experimental process that moves with a range of artistic direction, I continue to push myself and learn through introspection."
After moving from Ecuador to Miami in 2001, Rodriguez, a native of Colombia, enrolled in Miami-Dade College North Campus and recently earned an A.A. from the Fine Arts Program. After 4 years of focused artwork, Rodriguez cites the styles of Mark Rothko, George Yepes, Andy Warhol, Romero Brito, Kiss, Marilyn Manson and Radiohead as stirring forces and motivators for her own pieces. While in Ecuador, Rodriguez won the 1999 Bookmark Award and had her artwork featured in a nationally distributed bookmark. Ely has also displayed her work locally at an assortment of student art shows. The Wallflower Gallery is proud to present Ely Rodriguez as a featured artist for this 2004 Fine Art Exhibition.
