Cornucopia
A Photography Exhibition
By
David Haskin
Exploring the conceptual variance of nature with animated hues provides the medium to accent the essence of patterns. With a subtle compositional tone that is accented by the use of color and a sensual surrealism, David Haskin fuses a modern enhancement with classic dynamics to reveal vibrant images. Utilizing the computer to extend the sharpness of conventional photographs, Haskin’s rendered visions share a narrative voice through impression and abstract depiction. By projecting emotion with bold coloration and natural design, Haskin's representations shade the limits of our organic perception and the humanist response.
"My photography allows me the ability to explore ideas and create pieces that are open-ended and subtle. The interpretation reflects the complementary ambiance by matching contoured shapes with colorful textures."
With historical techniques that shape the references, Haskin, a Florida native, has developed his artistic style through independent studies and classes at Florida International University and Miami-Dade Community College. While living in Spain in the late 70's and early 80's, Haskin had the opportunity to refine his perspective with a cultural adaptation that reflected an appreciation for composition and design. After 25 years of photography, Haskin cites the works of Henri Matisse, Rene Magritte, Edward Weston, Paul Gauguin, Cindy Sherman and Robert Mapplethorpe as artistic pioneers who shaped the notions of projection for his own pieces. David has also displayed his work locally at Viernes Cultural, Serious Studios and the non-profit Photo Group in Coral Gables. In addition, Haskin is the proprietor of The Wallflower Gallery and he was previously an owning partner of Gallery Of The Unknown Artists. The Wallflower Gallery is proud to present David Haskin as a featured artist for this Fine Art Exhibition.
