A Mixed Media Mosaic Exhibition

By

Dana Fowler

Matching mental images with physical components extends the vitality of the vision and the tangibility of the dream. With a careful attention to detail and design, Dana Fowler shapes the contours of each piece of glass to enhance the visual essence of the overall artwork. Utilizing a specialized, grouting technique that layers the individual pieces with tempered glass reenforcement, Fowler’s distinctive mosaics capture the shimmering textures of light with vibrant tones and sturdy construction. With an organic flair for patterns and colors, Fowler's glass mosaics maintain a unique quality through the singular elements within the larger design.

"Working with the glass mosaics has provided me with a sense of freedom and empowerment that reflects my inner peace. The simplicity and complexity that comes from the process of putting a piece together allows me to connect with different sides of myself."

Since moving from New York City to South Florida almost 7 years ago, Fowler, a Georgia native, began studying different mosaic techniques through experimentation and reading several books. Over the last 6 years of designing images with glass, Fowler cites the works of Gene Roddenberry, old churches and Celtic music as internal beacons and guiding forces for her approach to art. As a constructive foundation to her artistic growth, Fowler has fused her occupation and her creative endeavors through Britans Art Glass, where she works on commission pieces and various projects. Dana has also displayed her work locally at various outdoor events including the Aventura, Las Olas, South Miami and Howard Allen Annual Fine Arts Festival, as well as participating in a judged exhibition at Chilli Pepper, where she won second place. The Wallflower Gallery is proud to present Dana Fowler as a featured artist for this Accent Piece Presentation.
