Alex Feliciano
Slow Turtles
Acrylic and Mixed Media
Artistic expression develops in a multitude of ways when a natural talent
focuses on fresh aspects. With an ever-ready sketch book and a sharp
imagination, Alex Feliciano combines graffiti-style techniques and studied
refinement to produce a distinctive fluidity with form and characterization.
Complementing a street level approach with an enhanced perspective, Feliciano’s
artistic creations animate the backdrop of South Florida’s industrial society
as well as gallery walls. Feliciano's paintings focus on the grittiness of
relationships and the nuances of everyday living.
"My artwork comes from my past experiences and how I interpret them. I
work to capture the movement of a situation and provide a medium for scenic
action."
Feliciano is a Miami native who learned to polish his artistic style from
The New World School of Art. After 18 years of painting, Feliciano sites the
works of Edgar Degas, Frances Bacon and Christian Chistopherson as inspirational
forces and motivators for his own pieces. In the late 80's Feliciano began
painting murals with different groups before he started to design and develop
his own. Alex has also displayed his work locally at Café Tu Tu Tangos, the I’ve
Been Framed Gallery and he recently completed a mural outside The Wallflower
Gallery with the assistance of Dade County’s Downtown Development Authority.
