Abdiel Acosta
The Heart Of Sentiment
Oil and Mixed Media
When artistic expression develops on a subconscious level, the creations
often reveal a depth of soul that has been impacted by a powerful force. With a
stylistic format that exposes edgy intensity within the subtle details, Abdiel
Acosta combines interpersonal and historic images within his mixed media works
to project deep mental visions on an abstract level.
Utilizing a sense of purpose with an innate ability for creative
deconstruction, Acosta’s artistic designs present a degree of emotion that
reflects an up-welling pain in society. Acosta’s paintings focus on the
challenges of turmoil and the quest for salvation that each individual must
learn to balance.
"The inspiration to create art comes as a beacon to fulfil my yearning
to explore my inner being. Touching my past experiences, I travel through my own
psyche as the designs unfold through me."
Acosta is a Cuban native who learned to develop his artistic base from The
New World School of Art and later polished his style at the Maryland Institute
Collge of Art where he earned a BFA. After 6 years of serious painting, Acosta
sites the works of Robert Rauschenberg and Frida Kahlo as creative roots that
draws his stylistic inspiration. Significant events like his part in the Mariel
Boat Lift have greatly influenced Acosta’s artistic expression and acts as a
catalyst for his outlook on the human condition. Abdiel has also displayed his
work locally at Broadway Art & Framing, the Avant Gard Salon and the Sibi
Art Gallery.
